Unit 14 – Computer Hardware

 

Overview –

This unit is all about maintaining and upgrading computers for a company. We are given specification for a laptop and a computer, and we need to look through this and see if we need to upgrade or maintain pieces of hardware or software

Task 1 –

Review how installing or maintaining hardware in one system could impact the business or an individual working for the business, taking into account:

  • Time spent
  •  Costs
  • Compatibility issues
  • Usability
  • Positive and negative impacts

this task asks us to discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the hardware for these, also we need to discuss what the good and bad things are about these and what could go wrong.

Unit 14 Task 1

Task 2 –

This Task asks for me to describe the client requirements and what the systems are for that. Also i need to produce a plan for my activities which include a list of installation and maintaining activities. Thirdly i am also asked to describe a piece of hardware component and the devices and software required for an upgrade, and finally i need to give a description of fault finding tools and technique.

 

Work –

Task 3 –

I am  given items of hardware to install in the system, you will need to take the necessary data and Health and Safety precautions before proceeding. I will then be given feedback on your system and the changes you have made and will be given the opportunity to improve the system based on that feedback.

What i found difficult?

for this unit i did not know that much with hardware so i had struggled a little bit with this unit.

Reflection of work –  looking back on this unit we needed to maintain and upgrade computers for a company. We are given specification for a laptop and a computer, and we need to look through this and see if we need to upgrade or maintain pieces of hardware or software.
